I’m Anton from Hamburg, Germany, and I’m 18 years old. I just finished school this year, and so I decided to go to Edinburgh to… SURPRISE, SURPRISE!… Improve my English. But not only that!

Since almost 3 months I’ve been studying here and I will be staying only one more month, which is very sad. Time flies… The beautiful and ancient city of Edinburgh offers a lot of exciting things to do, such as climbing Arthur’s Seat for a marvellous view all over Edinburgh, going to several cinemas or theatres, shopping on Princes and George Street or just wandering around the Old or New Town.

Those who are interested in culture will find lots of museums and galleries, the Edinburgh Castle or Holyrood Palace. And last but definitely not least: hundreds of charming pubs are waiting for you with live music and whisky to meet in the night. But my favouorite places are the Botanics and the close Water of Leith walkaway where you can relax and refuge from the lively and crowdy city centre.

On the weekends you can even travel through wonderful Scotland to discover its unique landscape, spooky castles and loads of distilleries. Especially autumn is the best time to come here, as it is not as touristy as in the summer and Highlands shine bright in all colours with their tips dipped into fog. And don’t worry about the weather, it is not as bad as you might think. Just bring a very warm jacket and never leave your house without an umbrella 😉
