The new school in the centre of Edinburgh! |
|
The Caledonian Language School opened in September 2011, a new school with
a body of well-experienced and highly qualified teaching staff, and a
Principal with nine years of management experience in education.
Early in 2012, we became a recognised Cambridge exam preparation centre.
In June, we received approval from the Scottish Qualifications Authority
as an assessment centre for SQA certificates in ESOL. This means that
students can gain qualifications which are recognised by British employers
and universities. The next stage of accreditation for the Caledonian
Language School is applying for British Council accreditation; we hope to
be inspected by the British Council in spring of 2013.
So far, we have offered classes at levels from Pre-intermediate to
Advanced plus examination preparation for Cambridge FCE, CAE and IELTS. We
plan to offer the same range of successful programs in 2012/13, plus of
course SQA units in ESOL, which can be taken at levels from
Pre-Intermediate (SQA Access 3) to Advanced (SQA Higher).
We have enjoyed welcoming our first groups of students, and are looking
forward to starting further courses in 2012/13, and reaching out to
students in other countries in Europe and beyond. |

Edinburgh, a great place to learn English |
|
Edinburgh truly is one of the best study destinations you can find. The
city is world-famous for its beauty and for the warmth of its inhabitants.
After London, it is the most-visited city in the UK – and rightly so. The
cultural possibilities of the city, combined with its sporting and leisure
facilities add real value to time spent studying in Scotland. As a place
to live and study, Edinburgh more than meets the expectations of students.
It’s also very easy to visit other cities or the Scottish countryside –
surely among the most beautiful landscape in the world.
Edinburgh...
Scotland’s world-famous capital!

English courses in Edinburgh |
|
At the Caledonian Language
School,
from September to June,
we offer English courses at a variety of levels, from
Pre-Intermediate to Advanced. You can study English full-time during the
day, or take a part-time English course in the evening. You can take a
General English course, or prepare for an examination like Cambridge First
Certificate or IELTS. Before starting your course,
you will take a placement test to establish your level of English.
You
will be able to discuss what will suit you best, depending on your level
of English and other commitments.
These courses are all offered in
blocks of 8-12 weeks.
In July and August, we offer shorter
courses with flexible start and finish dates, allowing students to
experience Edinburgh for 2-3 weeks or more and improve their
English at the same time. The aim of these courses is to bring out
the language that students already have, and make them more active
users of English.
